The Costume Institute Gala, like every year held at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, boasted a guest list of excellence this year never seen before.
In addition to pairs Jessica Biel-Justin Timberlake and Tom Brady-Gisele Bundchen, even Kristen Stewart, Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Scarlett Johansson have been some of the many stunning beauties that have worked the red carpet. The theme of the Costume Institute Gala was "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversation", with a full exhibition, intended to explore "the striking affinities between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two Italian designers from different eras." Many, including Anna Wintour, Eva Mendes and Carey Mulligan, paid tribute to the Italian designer by wearing Prada.
Beyonce came back on the red carpet after pregnancy in great shape with a mermaid dress from Givenchy; also Rooney Mara chose Givenchy, a one-shoulder gown in black lace. Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren and Coco Rocha in a vintage Givenchy belonging to Elizabeth Taylor, were simply stunning, while there were also some mistaken outfits.
Emma Stone looked almost like a Christmas decoration in a short red ballon skirt with embroidered by Lanvin; Bianca Brandolini D'Adda aimed to shine, but almost blinded spectators because of the thousands of sequins that covered her suit and her golden cloak.
In the photogallery are all of the MET Gala 2012 dresses.
