With the New York fashion week, the catwalk season is opened, and editors, journalists, celebrities, and above all, models, get ready for the most awaited fashion event. For years now, the extreme thinness of the models has been under various accusations, but despite several initiatives to eliminate the so-called size zero, the fashion industry continues to demand certain standards of thinness to walk in the fashion shows.

Russian model Kira Dikhtyar told Fox News some of the methods used by colleagues to stay in shape before the fashion week. “Packs of cigarettes, daily colonics, laxatives, Phentermine diet pills, Adderal, prescription drugs that suppress the appetite” are just some of the  methods used by young models to not feel hunger. “I've heard stories that some modelling agents encourage girls to do speed and cocaine in order to speed up metabolism and eat less. In many eat cotton balls to fill their stomachs."

Even the Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima, spoke about her liquid diet she does to be ready before a catwalk. In addition to the three gym sessions a day, Lima, ten days before the catwalk,  drinks only protein shakes, no solids, and 12 hours before the catwalk, she stops drinking completely, "No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that," the model and actress confessed.
