During the glamorous Altaroma atmosphere, Louis Vuitton opened the Maison Rome Etoile, the first of its kind in Italy and the 14th in the world. The Maison Etoile, built in the center of Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, in Rome, is a space of 1200 square meters, designed by architect Peter Marino.
Besides the store, the space includes a small cinema with twenty gold color chairs to pay homage to the historic Etoile cinema which was on the square and to celebrate the partnerships that Louis Vuitton has with the movies. The red carpet of the event, such a Hollywood one, was full of celebrities. Among the many stars, we found Stefano Accorsi, Catherine Deneuve with daughter Chiara Mastroianni, Laura Morante, Natalia Vodianova and Cate Blanchett, who said at the event: ‘It’s not just the actors who make great films and the directors it’s also the hair and make up people, it’s the carpenters, it’s the costume designers, the propmakers. Having worked with Cinecitta I know first hand the extraordinary skillbase and that’s why legendary films are being made and so with a brand that obviously enshrines great craftsmanship it’s of course a wonderful thing that they’re doing”.
Louis Vuitton, which has just agreed to a three year partnership with the Italian National Film School, has always worked with movies, appearing in several productions with clothes and especially with bags and trunks, "Louis Vuitton has historical links with film. – said Patrick-Louis Vuitton, responsible for the special order of the french house - We have among our clients famous names, names entered in the legend like Douglas Fairbanks (icon of the silent film), Mary Pickford, Luchino Visconti, Catherine Deneuve, for which I myself made a beautiful jewel in the sixties. We also have family memories tied to the movies. The twins Jean and Pierre Vuitton (my grandfather's brothers) were great fans of the movies and realized themselves several short films". But the most “particular” special order is a trunk that I made for the Lebanese director Nadine Labari. She wanted to carry her films inside of it. The trunk of Labaki will be on display in this very Roman location." Concluded Patrick Louis Vuitton.
In the Rome store, historical pieces belonging to the history of the French brand, jewelry, watches, and books will be displayed in addition to films selected by the French fashion house that can be seen in the small movie room inside the store.
