The latest creation of the Olsens, a patchwork bag created with various animal skins and furs worth $16.900 could not pass unnoticed by animal rights association PETA. “If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it’s probably a Trollsen Twin—or someone wearing one of their new $16,000 totes, which are made from the furs and skins of innocent animals” said the statement issued by the animal rights group.
For their part, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen can not be scratched by PETA attacks that have been going on since 2007, the year in which they based their luxury brand, The Row, where the use of skins has always been part of their business. The bag in question is a colored backpack covered with different fur and sponsored by stylist Rachel Zoe as the must-have bag of autumn. Pretty in patchwork, The Row's posh pack, combines comfort and class.” The fashion guru wrote on their website “The fuzzy texture on this nifty knapsack is also a fashion favorite. Perfect for pre-fall, it's never too soon to start thinking ahead for your next season's staple”.
While PETA commened “What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it’s the foxes, calves, and alligators—who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain—who pay the dearest price."
PETA also dedicated an entire site to Hairy-Kate & Trashy Olsen, where you can dress the twins in a horror version with bloody dead animals and leather garments. Meanwhile, the world's response to the Golden Twins’ fashion creations looks pretty positive. The 26 year old actresses turned designers have been awarded during the 2012 CFDA, the Oscars of Fashion, as Womenswear Designers of the Year.
