CFDA Fashion Awards 2012

The CFDA Fashion Awards, the Oscars of Fashion, was held at the Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. During the event, the Council of Fashion Designers of America awarded fashion and entertainment personalities who have contributed to the landscape of American fashion this year.

Johnny Depp, the Dark Shadows actor, was awarded with one of the most important awards of the evening: Fashion Icon of The Year. The actor, 49, was busy on set, and could not attend the ceremony, but he’s the first man in history to be honored by the CFDA as a fashion icon. The fashion duo Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were awarded as Womenswear Designers of the Year with their successful clothing line The Row.

Among many fashionista guests, we found Kate Bosworth, Zoe Saldana, and the 18 year-old Dakota Fanning, who worked the red carpet in a kimono-style dress printed and colored by Proenza Schouler. Lily Collins, who led part of the evening, chose a short gold Marchesa embroidered dress, with Swarovski jewels and metallic shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti. Also, Jessica Chastain presented the evening in an ivory dress with organza sleeves, and gold-colored Prabal Gurung pumps
