The Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber was involved in an altercation with a paparazzo after he, his girlfriend Selena Gomez, and other friends watched a movie at a theater in Calabasas, California on Sunday, May 27, in north Los Angeles where Justin has recently bought a villa (Gallery).

A photographer had been waiting outside the building when Bieber simply lost it patience for a moment with a paparazzo who got "too close," Selena tried to stop the fight by calming him down, Justin losing his shoe and hat in the melee.

The photog called 911 with paramedics and the Fire Department to the scene, but the couple drove away before they arrived "at the Calabasas Commons with the Fire Department." A source said, Justin's bodyguard also arrived while the photographer received medical attention for an apparent strike to his upper torso, and he was taken to a local hospital where he was examined and released a short time later.

Law enforcement tells us detectives want to speak with Justin, Selena and any other witnesses.
