Up in the sky: Planes
From above the world of Cars comes Disney's Planes, an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer – even if he's not exactly built for racing. Produced by DisneyToon Studios, the movie is directed by Klay Hall and features the voices of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Stacy Keach, Teri Hatcher, John Cleese, Cedric the Entertainer, Priyanka Chopra, Val Kilmer and Anthony Edwards. Despite the fact that Pixar isn't producing the film, John Lasseter, being chief creative officer of both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios, and director of Cars and Cars 2, will be one of the executive producers. "I always felt every vehicle in the world of Cars is a character, and I love the idea of airplanes because you get off the ground and can take people places they have never seen," said Lasseter. "Planes is a wonderful story that will take audiences on a great ride." "I think we got into this world and really saw how epic it could be," added Hall. "Planes taps into historical aviation and goes all the way through the most contemporary type of experimental planes – from commercial airliners, air racers and gliders to blimps. You can really dig in here."
