Sylvester Stallone

American actor, screenwriter, director and producer Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone was born in 1946. Stallone is known for his machismo and Hollywood action roles. Two of the notable characters he has portrayed are boxer Rocky Balboa and soldier John Rambo. The Rocky and Rambo franchises, along with several other films as Escape to Victory (1981), Cobra (1986), Over the Top (1987), Lock Up (1989), Tango & Cash (1989), Demolition Man (1993), Cop Land (1997), Avenging Angelo (2002), strengthened his reputation as an actor and his box office earnings. Stallone's film Rocky was inducted into the National Film Registry as well as having its film props placed in the Smithsonian Museum.

Simon West

British director Simon West was born in 1961. He started as a film editor with the BBC, then directed documentaries and commercials. His film directing career started in 1997 with Con Air, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and starring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and John Malkovich, and followed that up in 1999 with The General's Daughter starring John Travolta. Among his movies, When a Stranger Calls (2006) and the upcoming Medallion.

From Lionsgate and Millennium Films, The Expendables 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the summer 2010 worldwide box-office success ($274 million worldwide). The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, with Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger, with newest cast members Liam Hemsworth, martial arts legends Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Chinese actress Yu Nan as the first Expendable woman. Directed by Simon West and written by Richard Wenk and Stallone on a story by Wenk, Ken Kaufman and David Agosto, the movie is based on characters created by David Callaham. On his approach to casting, Stallone explained that he was looking particularly for actors who had not experienced recent significant success in film, saying: "I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot. So we're always looking for actors like Michael Biehn and Michael Paré. I like those kinds of guys. Someone did it for me and I like to see if I can do it for them." Commenting on Jean-Claude Van Damme's role, Stallone said: "We have a big showdown between me and Van Damme, which has been anticipated for a long time, so it should be a good one." Kidding on his rose before filming, Bruce Willis said: "Hopefully, they'll start shooting it while we're young enough to survive."

Plot:

Barney Ross, Lee Christmas, Yin Yang, Gunnar Jensen, Toll Road and Hale Caesar – with newest members Billy the Kid and Maggie aboard – are reunited when Mr. Church enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job.
