The audience of the Trieste Film Festival has declared the winners of the 23th edition. The Trieste Award for the Best Feature Film in the International Competition goes to Dom (The House) by Zuzana Liová, a Slovakia/Czech Republic co-production. The movie is an intimate story of a mother and her two daughters, set against the wider context of the shifting and changeable period of time in which a post-communistic society is situated.
Winner of the Alpe Adria Cinema Award for the Best Documentary is Aleksandrinke (The Alexandrians) by Metod Pevec. The documentary (a Slovenia/Italy/Egypt co-production) focuses on a painful, almost exclusively female emigration, from the west part of Slovenia to Argentina and Egypt before World War II. The Mediterraneo Cinema Award for the Best Short Film goes to the Romanian Apele tac (Silent River) by Anca Miruna Lăzărescu. The Cinema Zones Award goes ex aequo to Trieste on Basaglia by Erika Rossi (IT) and Far Away Is Home. La storia di Clely by Diego Cenentiempo (AU/IT).
