American actress and film producer born in Los Angeles in 1975, she began her career playing a token role in music videos by Rolling Stones, Meat Loaf and Lenny Kravitz. The true consecration came only with Gia, a movie about the dramatic life of supermodel Gia Carangi. She won an Oscar with Girl Interrupted (1999), although even before the nomination, she was on the screen with movies like The Bone Collector (1999), Pushing Tin (1999) and Playing by Heart (1998). She performed the character of the video game heroine Lara Croft in Tomb Raider (2001) and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003). Her first marriage with British actor Jonny Lee Miller, one of the actors from Trainspotting, is part of Hollywood legends. Now she is Brad Pitt’s wife.
