The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, a charitable-sporty event, was held at Governor’s Island  on Sunday, June 5. Designers, actors and polo players met to raise funds to help reconstruct Haiti through the Urban Zen Foundation Hope & Help Rebuild Haiti. Hosting the event were the actor Hugh Jackman and fashion designer Donna Karan. Actresses Isla Fisher, Naomi Watts, Julianne Margulies, Shenae Grimes and Nicky Hilton were also present. Charity is becoming a virtuous behavior for actors and show business personalities and not just for big businessmen. First was Bill Gates with the foundation dedicated to his wife. Some people arrange poker championships for charity like Matt Damon and George Clooney, some others, like Sharon Stone, design unique collections of jewelry for the fashion house Damiani whose profits will be donated to ‘Drop in the Bucket’ which is committed to the construction of water wells in Africa. Some others started their own charity organizations: Italian actor Raoul Bova has recently created the Foundation Coloriamo i Sogni, a charity dedicated to culture; even Shakira and Sean Penn went for the ‘Do It Yourself’ way and founded an association that builds schools in Haiti. Among those who show their faces and those who work behind the scenes, there are a lot of celebrities involved in many good causes, and it is  fortunate that charity is always in fashion ….
